Good evening! Tonight's low temperatures will actually not be that cold, with mid 60s expected across the area ahead of the incoming cold front. We are also going to finally see some rain, as well (I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to it). The possibility of severe weather does exist, but it will likely be isolated. We have enough moisture and wind shear, but the instability just isn't there. CAPE values will only range from about 500-1000 J/kg. That's enough to get some thunderstorms going, but not enough for the atmosphere to do much as far as severe weather goes. The showers and thunderstorms should clear out after 10am, but by then, it will be too late to regain daytime heating. We'll be looking at upper 60s and low 70s, with the temperature dropping as the day progresses. Lows tomorrow night will be in the mid to upper 40s around Brooksville, and in the mid 50s around Tampa Bay. Things will cool down for the weekend, with low and mid 70s during the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Overnight, we'll see temperatures in a range from the mid 40s to mid 50s. Add Comment Nice Week Ahead; Possible Rain On Friday 01/23/2012
The weather for the rest of this week will be close to what we saw today. Warm days.... mostly clear skies... cool evenings. That is what we are expecting through Thursday. More specifically, daytime temps will be in the upper 70s, topping out near 80. Evening lows will drop to the low and mid 50s for the Nature Coast, while Tampa and areas further south see upper 50s and low 60s. Brooksville and surrounding areas could see patchy fog through Wednesday. Looking past Thursday..... As I mentioned in the title of this post, rain looks to be possible on Friday ahead of the arrival and passage of a cold front. The weekend is also looking nice, with temps in the mid 70s and sunny skies. That's it for now. Be sure to check back on Thursday for your weekend forecast! I'm Back - For Good This Time 11/28/2011
Well, it's been a while since I last posted here. In that time, I have created and launched a new site at www.suncoaststormwatch.com, joined a group called Foot's Forecast (where I post daily weather forecasts for Central Florida), and participated in an internship with an awesome meteorologist. In rebooting this blog, I hope to continue things where I left off. After I stopped posting here, I tried to use Blogspot, but I never felt comfortable with it. So, here I am, back at Weebly. Let the games begin! Weekly Update 06/19/2010
As another week draws to a close, the weather in West Central Florida stays the same. If you're tired of the heat and humidity, I have bad news: You're going to have to deal with it a bit longer. This week, daytime temperatures will be in the mid 90s. Daily rain chances could cool the air down slightly (or just make it feel worse). Rain chances will be highest tomorrow and Monday. Weekly Update 06/13/2010
West Central Florida is going to be wet this week. Rain will advect into the area, bringing with it POPS between 20 and 50 percent all week. Daytime temperatures will be in the low-mid 90s, while at night, we'll see temperatures in the low 70s. Other than the rain, there's not much else to be concerned about weather-wise this week. However, there is a tropical wave that the NHC is watching. Right now, there is around a 50% chance of something forming from it. Within the next day or so, it could develop into a depression or possibly a tropical storm Weekly Update 05/30/2010
Now that NOAA (the National Hurricane Center, actually) has released their outlook for the upcoming hurricane season, we can see that pretty much all of the predictions point to an above-average season. Experts have noticed that conditions are similar to 2005, when we had 28 named storms and went into the Greek alphabet. Water temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean are actually warmer now for this time of the year than they were in 2005, and if that is an indication of what's to come, we're in for a lot of trouble. Despite all of the forecasts saying there is going to be an above average season, I have some advice from a very popular, former Weather Channel Tropical Weather Expert (Dr. Steve Lyons, now with NWS San Angelo): Don't be scared, just get prepared. The forecast for this week points to more rain in our future. Daytime temperatures will be in the high 80s and low 90s, while night-time temps will be in the low to mid 70s. | "Like" Suncoast Stormwatch on Facebook!
