Suncoast Stormwatch has gone mobile. I have just released an Android app for users of SuncoastStormwatch.com. It has a lot of the same local content in an easily accessible format.

If you'd like to give it a whirl, you can download it here. Please keep in mind that at this point, the app is still in a very basic state, but I plan to add new features over time as feedback is received and I work some things out.

Future plans for the app include expanding to the national scale, and possibly creating something for iOS devices (or, at least, the iPhone).

Feedback is appreciated! Feel free to leave a comment on the blog, and I'll answer it as soon as I can.

UPDATE, 8:30pm 3/9/12
***The app should now be able to be downloaded. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any problems, please let me know.

UPDATE, 1:30pm 3/9/12
***For anyone who tries to download the app: There is a glitch on my server that is currently preventing the app from downloading (did not know about it). I'm not in a position to fix it at the moment, but I hope to resolve it later tonight. So, be on the lookout, and I'll let you know when it's fixed.

Hello! I apologize for not posting this weekend, but something came up and I was busy. Now, moving on to the weather....

Temperatures are rebounding across West Central Florida after a chilly and cold weekend. Tomorrow, we'll be seeing mid 70s, and by Wednesday, even low 80s.

Overall, a very stable pattern is in place for the first half of the week:

Generally sunny skies, and day time temperatures in the mid 70s and lower 80s, with overnight lows in a range from the mid 50s in the Nature Coast area to low 60s around Tampa.

For the second half of the week, starting Thursday, there is some uncertainty as to whether or not a cold front will pass through the region late Thursday/early Friday.

I'll post an update when we get closer regarding the possible effects this might bring to our area.

It looks like we might actually see some rain this week, which would not be a bad thing, considering Florida's drought. While chances aren't that great for the week, we still have the possibility of a few showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two.

Temperatures will get into the upper 70s and lower 80s through Thursday, when things will cool down slightly. Evening lows will range from the upper 50s in Brooksville to mid 60s around Tampa.

Good afternoon! Daytime highs for the rest of the week will likely be in the upper 70s. For the rest of today, and tomorrow, we'll have a few clouds here and there, but for the most part, we'll see sunny skies.

Tonight, Brooksville will see low and mid 50s, while Tampa sees upper 50s. Tomorrow, Brooksville will get down into the upper 50s, while Tampa sees low 60s. Brooksville could also see a few isolated showers tomorrow night.

Good evening! Tonight's low temperatures will actually not be that cold, with mid 60s expected across the area ahead of the incoming cold front.

We are also going to finally see some rain, as well (I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to it).

The possibility of severe weather does exist, but it will likely be isolated. We have enough moisture and wind shear, but the instability just isn't there. CAPE values will only range from about 500-1000 J/kg. That's enough to get some thunderstorms going, but not enough for the atmosphere to do much as far as severe weather goes.

The showers and thunderstorms should clear out after 10am, but by then, it will be too late to regain daytime heating. We'll be looking at upper 60s and low 70s, with the temperature dropping as the day progresses.

Lows tomorrow night will be in the mid to upper 40s around Brooksville, and in the mid 50s around Tampa Bay.

Things will cool down for the weekend, with low and mid 70s during the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Overnight, we'll see temperatures in a range from the mid 40s to mid 50s.

The weather for the rest of this week will be close to what we saw today.

Warm days.... mostly clear skies... cool evenings. That is what we are expecting through Thursday. More specifically, daytime temps will be in the upper 70s, topping out near 80.

Evening lows will drop to the low and mid 50s for the Nature Coast, while Tampa and areas further south see upper 50s and low 60s. Brooksville and surrounding areas could see patchy fog through Wednesday.

Looking past Thursday.....

As I mentioned in the title of this post, rain looks to be possible on Friday ahead of the arrival and passage of a cold front.

The weekend is also looking nice, with temps in the mid 70s and sunny skies.

That's it for now. Be sure to check back on Thursday for your weekend forecast!

This weeked will be quite nice across the area, with sunny skies, and temperatures in the upper 70s topping out near 80. Overnight lows will only dip into the mid and upper 50s.

Next week, high pressure will stick around, and give us more warm and sunny weather with conditions that are more fitting of early spring.... More on that Monday, so be sure to check back then!

Today is shaping up to be a nice day across the area, with temperatures warming into the mid 70s. Sunny skies will continue through the day, with south and southwesterly winds.

Tonight, we'll see mid to upper 40s in Brooksville and Tampa. A cold front will push through tonight, and drop our temperatures for the weekend. Highs tomorrow will only reach into the lower 60s. Tomorrow night, Brooksville will see mid 30s, while Tampa sees temps in the low 40s.

Good morning everyone! With December 1st here at last, it's time say 'goodbye' to hurricane season, and  'hello' to winter (check out this great video showing the 2011 Atlantic season in just under 5 minutes).

While it will be warmer today than it was yesterday, we'll only be a few degrees warmer. Daytime highs will climb into the upper 60s. Sunny skies will accompany calm winds of about 10 mph. Tonight, we'll see temps in the low to mid 40s in and around Brooksville, and low 50s in Tampa and Orlando.

Tomorrow, the warming trend continues, with temperatures rebounding into the low to mid 70s and low to mid 50s.

Good morning! A second cold front is making it's way through the area. After that, high pressure will settle in and linger through the weekend. Today, we'll see low 70s across the area with plenty of sunlight, and overnight lows in the low to mid 40s around Brooksville, and low 50s in Tampa and Orlando.

Tomorrow, conditions will be similar, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lows in the upper 30s around Brooksville, and mid to upper 40s in Tampa and Orlando.
